ABOUT ME...
HELLO! I am so happy that you are visiting my page. So I guess you want to know a little about me eh? As you know, my name is Nicole Ginter (previously LaForest). I am wife to a loving husband and mom to our little squirt Emma. After a little hiatus from my now second love (family comes first) - figure skating, I was able to fall back in love with the sport (now that my Emma is taking lessons). I have missed it so much.
Skating was my life for so long. Starting in CanSkate when I was 6 with the Milton Figure Skating Club, I quickly fell in love with the sport and progressed fairly quickly. I began my competitive career and gained superb basics with the Acton Skating Club under Cindy McGilloway. Around grade 9, my family moved to Super, Natural, British Columbia and I skated with the Abbotsford Skating Club. Here I completed my Gold Dances (coach Laura Matthews, partner David Gibson), Gold Skills and Gold Interpretive (coach Debbie Fleck Krunick) and my Novice Competitive and Gold Freeskate (coach Bonnie Finch). At last the club was changing, Ms. Bonnie retired, and I was connected with Karen Magnussen and the North Shore Winter Club became my new home club. I truly pushed the envelope and became the best skater I could be, under Ms. Karen's watchful eye. I completed my Jr. Competitive Singles test and even competed at the Senior level. Although I did try the Senior test once or twice, the triples never showed their true form and I retired. I understand the importance of hard work (I think I had to take the 14 Step Dance Test about 7 times), and perseverance (I have had my fair share of bruises), while maintaining a fun and encouraging environment (life long friends have been made from a many of sleepovers and skating the next morning). So here we are, present day. University - check, Married - check, Family - check. I am so excited to be at the point that I can return to the ice and pick up where I left off, many moons ago. Coaching is only a natural extension of my passion for skating, teaching and helping athletes reach their full potential (recreationally, test or competitively). I can't wait to chat soon. As a coach, I am focused on making a difference.
