COACHING PHILOSOPHY
COACHING. Coaching is a position I value and respect. As a parent, skater and/or customer, I understand the trust you put in me to help shape 'the athlete'. But coaching and sport is about so much more than what we see on the ice. Push Yourself! Push yourself and you will be successful. As much as I stress the importance of having fun and loving sport, it is even more important to push yourself. I want my skaters to always be striving for better and improving upon what they just learned. If you are not progressing - I am not doing my job. I love goal setting, whether it is short term or long term, goal setting is so important to progress in a positive direction on the ice and in life. Respect! I demand respect for sport, for your fellow athletes, and for your family. Healthy relationships are needed to support you in your goals, support you in your home life, and support you at school or work. If you are having any trouble or feel like we need to change the game plan, please come talk to me. I am always open to suggestions, learning, and constructive criticism. Preparation! It is my job to get you to be the best. I believe preparation is at the forefront to make this happen. Show up on time and 'train to compete'. Training to compete doesn't have to be all about competition - it means train to do your best and push your own boundaries. Prepare yourself to be the best and you will have success. This all happens by doing something as small a showing up on time. Show up on time and prepared. Perform your warm ups, have your water with you, have your goals ready for the session and be positive. The rest will follow. I always stress the open door policy. I respect you as an athlete, I respect you as a person, and I respect you as a student. If there are any concerns at all please talk to me and we can constructively figure out how to approach the issue or situation. As a coach, I am focused on making a difference! |
